NOTE: I've had to put this on hold due to a shoulder injury... Will resume when I'm healed up. <pout>
====================================
I've decided to take the One Hundred Pushups challenge! While I've been incredibly fit this year (averaging anywhere from 4-5 times per week, weights and cardio), I slacked off last week and have felt pretty bad about it. I stumbled onto this program, and figured that'd help me get kick-started again!
I will take my initial test this week (7/16-7/18 sometime) and will begin my program next Monday (7/21/2008). I'll be tracking my entire progress publically here, so no excuses for me. <grin>
Initial Test Results:
Goal (7/16): Do as many pushups as you can.
Result: 36 pushups before my arms gave out!
Not a bad start... That puts me at a starting "Level 4" and means I'll be working from the far right column #3 for all of my weekly sessions...starting next week!
Week 1 Results:
Day 1 (7/21)
With 60 seconds rest between each, do the following # of pushups
Goal: 10, 10, 8, 6, max (at least 7) - total of 41
Result: 10, 10, 8, 6, max (28/fatigue) - total of 62
Day 2 (7/23)
With 90 seconds rest between each, do the following # of pushups
Goal: 12, 12, 10, 10, max (at least 10) - total of 54
Result: 12, 12, 10, 10, max (27/fatigue) - total of 71
Day 3 (7/25)
With 120 seconds rest between each, do the following # of pushups
Goal: 15, 13, 10, 10, max (at least 15) - total of 63
Result: 15, 13, 10, 10, max(27/fatigue and slight shoulder pain) - total of 75
Comments: Week one wasn't too bad at all, but I have a feeling this is really just the tip of the iceberg...this will get progressively difficult, I hope I can keep up. Felt a bit of shoulder pain in my left shoulder today...been working pretty hard all week though (doing my regular workout right after the pushup workout). Have had to do some of the pushups military-style (fist down instead of palm down) all week due to left wrist pain. I must be old or something (at least the left side of me)! Ha. Will be nice to give everything a couple days break until next Monday!
Week 2 Results:
Day 1 (7/30)
With 60 seconds rest between each, do the following # of pushups
Goal: 12, 12, 9, 7, max (at least 10) - total of 50
Result: 12, 12, 9, 7, max (22/fatigue and some shoulder pain still) - total of 62
Comments: Started week two on Wednesday, still having shoulder issues so I decided to give myself another couple days. Still some pain, but will continue and just feel it out. I didn't do as many as I think I could have if my shoulder wasn't bugging me. Going to have to do the rest of my workout without using my shoulders.
Day 2 (8/1)
With 90 seconds rest between each, do the following # of pushups
Goal: 12, 12, 10, 10, max (at least 10) - total of 54
Result: TBD
Day 3 (8/3)
With 120 seconds rest between each, do the following # of pushups
Goal: 15, 13, 10, 10, max (at least 15) - total of 63
Result: TBD
